Calling all fans of comics, fantasy, sci-fi, and pop culture—Merricon is here! Join us at the Merrick Library on Saturday, July 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for a fandom convention!
This family-friendly event will feature appearances by author and illustrator Penny Schneider and special effects artist Carl Paolino, known for his work on MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch. Attendees can enjoy a variety of fan panels covering everything from retro gaming and Star Trek cruises to Tolkien film adaptations, Stan Lee and the ever-expanding Star Wars universe.
Merricon is packed with interactive activities for all ages, including:
Harry Potter wand-making
Pokémon card crafting
Superhero drawing workshop for kids
Slime-making with the NYC Ghostbusters
A nostalgic Saturday morning cartoon lounge with cereal
Pop-up arcade, board games, and themed photo ops
Explore a bustling artist alley with dozens of vendors, artists and exhibitors offering comics, artwork, and collectibles. Don’t miss our Digital Manga and Anime Art Exhibit and a spotlight on the library’s expanded manga collection.
Whether you’re here to cosplay, meet fellow fans, or discover new creators, Merricon has something for everyone. Enter our cosplay contest—family-friendly costumes are encouraged! Food and snacks will be available for purchase throughout the day.
Please note: The Merrick Library will be open exclusively for Merricon on July 19. Regular library services will not be available. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
