About Us

In the beginning...

Despite being the home of the Ghostbusters, at the beginning of the 2010s New York City found itself without an organized Ghostbusters franchise group. That all changed in 2012 when Eric Cudworth and other founding members formally established the New York City Ghostbusters to serve everyone’s supernatural elimination needs across the five boroughs and throughout the tristate area.

...and then....

Over the years NYCGB cemented ourselves on the scene with events and services like our signature slime lab, guided tours, and recurring appearances at New York Comic Con and other conventions. On June 8, 2014 (the 30th Ghostbusters Day), we led a free walking tour of filming locations open to the public—which immediately became a Ghostbusters Day tradition.

In time, we established a relationship with Trinity Place Shelter as the main beneficiary of our charitable efforts. A small shelter for unhoused LGBTQ+ youth, we chose Trinity as our primary charity partner both because their work aligns with our group’s values and because the scale of our fundraising, though relatively humble, makes a significant difference to their operations. We believe this represents the best strategy for us to use our fondness for Ghostbusters to do good on a meaningful local level.

In 2017, we found the car! We acquired a replica of the 1983 Cadillac Ecto-1 featured in Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. This beautiful set of wheels became Ecto NYC, our flagship vehicle, and enabled us to offer driving tours as well as exciting vehicular event appearances.

...today!

In 2023, we obtained official registered status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, turbocharging our ability to operate as a charity group. With over 70 active members (and growing!), we’ve become the largest Ghostbusters franchise group in the northeastern US.
